  A tax file number (TFN) is a unique number that identifies each person to administer the taxation and superannuation.

  It is the most important form of identification in Australia.

  • at Australia Post;
  • at a Department of Human Services (Centrelink) centre;

When will I get my TFN?

  The ATO will send your TFN to your Australian address within 28 days.

  If you don't receive your TFN after 28 days, please, contact the ATO on 13 28 61 from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday - Friday.
